I am a Wellington-based writer and editor, with a background in broadcast and print journalism. I'm currently focusing on writing a book about the experience and effects of childhood parental bereavement.
I've been making my living through words for thirty years now, so there's not much I haven't written (although annual reports spring to mind...) I started out in radio before moving to television, popping over to work in TV in London, then back here into television production, followed by a foray into PR. These days I'm a freelance writer/editor, living in Wellington.
Outside of work I volunteer for a music charity, Arohanui Strings+, even though I have zero musical capability myself. Nor, it appears, do I have much aptitude for website design (this site is Exhibit A), although I'm decent enough at using a CMS.
What's it like for a child when a parent dies? How can we do death better for children? My main project at the moment is interviewing adults who had parents die when they were children, about what happened, how it affected them then, and now, and how it could have been done better.
As a freelance writer, I’ve worked for countless magazines, media companies and public and private sector clients, providing written content for radio, television, magazines, the web, and marketing and social marketing campaigns. I also love doing voiceovers - narration, ads, whatever, and getting all picky over proofreading.
I do have a website coming for my book, "Too Young", but for now this barely there website will have to do. Also, see my socials - linked icons below.
